UC Santa Barbara – Extension
UCSB Extension has approved our conference for three (3) quarter units [equivalent to two (2) semester units].
Fees (fees are in addition to conference registration):
- $150 UCSB Extension enrollment fee
- Official transcripts printed & mailed cost $17.50. Or you can choose to have transcripts sent electronically for $15 each.
Enrollment Opens: Jan. 10, 2024
Deadline: Aug. 31, 2024*
*The final deadline to enroll & submit assignments is August 31, 2024. However, there are monthly opportunities to submit assignments and receive transcripts earlier.

- Transcript application deadlines are as follows:
- Submit by April 30 to receive grade by May 15
- Submit by May 31 to receive grade by June 15
- Submit by June 30 to receive grade by July 15
- Submit by July 31 to receive grade by Aug. 15
- Submit by Aug. 31 to receive grade by Sept. 15

Grading Rubric:
You must submit the forms provided at STEM CON & Beyond no later than Aug. 31, 2024.
The following rubric will be used to assign grades (see printable version):
To Earn a “C”
By Aug. 31, 2024:
- Attend any combination of sessions to complete 30 hours of content.
- Submit a form confirming the sessions watched.
To Earn a “B”
By Aug. 31, 2024:
- Attend any combination of sessions to complete 30 hours of content.
- Submit a form confirming sessions watched.
- Submit a lesson plan assignment showing the application of ideas from the conference*
To Earn an “A”
By Aug. 31, 2024:
- Attend any combination of sessions to complete 30 hours of content.
- Submit a form confirming sessions watched.
- Submit a lesson plan assignment showing the application of ideas from the conference*
- Facilitate the lesson with students and submit a written reflection, with an example of student work**
*Some sessions will include downloadable teaching resources. You are welcome to use downloadable materials as the basis for your lesson plan, combine ideas, & apply learnings from any session. You will be asked to credit presenters/sessions that influenced your lesson plan.
Guidelines for what must be included in the lesson plan will be provided, but you may use a lesson plan format of your choice, in keeping with your school or district’s preferences.
**After facilitating the lesson with students, there will be a form to submit a reflection on how the lesson went, what you would change going forward, how you might differentiate or extend, etc. You will be asked to submit an example of student work, which can be a scan of handout completed, a photograph of an engineering build, etc.
Note: To earn an “A” you will need to conduct a lesson before your school year ends. You do not need to watch all of the required hours prior to conducting your lesson. It is fine to watch some hours prior your lesson and additional hours after the lesson. Forms must be submitted no later than Aug. 31, 2024.
